Tanghuset på Stubbekøbing Havn
90 m² biobased new-build, thatched in seagrass, serving as a cross-generational learning space for local school biology and nature classes and the non-profits of Stubbekøbing Harbor. Designed with input from more than 100 local children, the project also incorporates EVE as part of its wider social learning platform.
About Studio Kathryn Larsen
Studio Kathryn Larsen is an architecture and research practice focused on community-led regeneration. We work across buildings, landscapes, ecological infrastructure, and public processes, using design to create the conditions for people to participate meaningfully in shaping the places they care about.
Our work combines architectural design, full-scale prototyping, collective making, local knowledge, education, and ecological restoration. Participation is build into the design process from the concept phase- from surveys, public votes and creative workshops to citizen science, crowdfunding, and long-term stewardship.
The studio is founded by architect Kathryn Larsen, whose work explores how architecture can build not only physical places, but collective confidence, capability, and culture. Her practice moves between rural regeneration, biobased construction, marine habitats, teaching, and public experimentation, with a particular focus on projects where communities can see their contribution change the outcome.
