The accessibility tile is our reaction to the CHART Art Fair 2023 Brief, which was centered around designing for inclusivity. When we spoke to wheelchair users and cane users, they all pointed towards the cobblestones in European cities as being significant barriers of entry. We wanted to see if we could do something about that. In our free time, we worked with wheelchair users to prototype the first, second, and third tests of panels that can provide a level surface over cobblestones, without damaging them. We are experimenting with printing them out of PHA, a polymer that is biodegradable in all biotopes.
